The incident is of Marcelle Mancuso, a 23-year-old girl from Brazil. She was doing inverted sit-ups at her gym when a small accident happened. The strap which was holding her legs while doing the elevated sit ups became loose. Because of this, she slipped and her head fell onto the floor.

As soon as her head hit the floors, she was unable to move her body parts down the neck. It was only her eyes, which she was able to move. When examined medically, it was revealed that she broke the fifth vertebrate in her neck. Not only that, the other vertebrates were squashed and some were knocked one out of place, due to which her spinal cord was compressed.

She was told that she would never be able to move her body, but after several months of intense medications and physical therapy, she was able to make her first steps. Doctors had fit a metal plate and screws in her spine to make her stand straight. A total of three months was taken by Marcelle after the surgery to walk with her first steps. She said in an interview, “After six months I managed to walk and my legs did not sway anymore. It sometimes feels like it was a nightmare I have woken up from.” After this incident, guess what happened? She is more active than ever at the gym and she is obviously back at the gym.
