A Real Filmy Story - Man gets his Newly Wed Wife Married to Her Lover

We all know that arranged marriage is an extreme and most common practice in India. And the saddest part of the story is that, during a marriage in India, the bride or the groom’s choice is never taken into account, even at the biggest decision of their life, i.e. when finding a life partner for them. This is the exact case, which happened when a young 24-year-old girl from Jharsuguda’s Debdihi village was married to a 28-year-old guy, whose name is Basudeb Tappo, belonging to Pamara village in Sundergarh district.

The story goes on like this – after 3 days of the arranged marriage, three young men visited Tappo and they claimed to be Tappo’s newlywed wife’s cousin. They all were welcomed by the family. After few chats, two of them went with Tappo to see the village sights, and the ‘cousin’ was allegedly seen with the wife. The story was somewhat clear by this part of the time. The cousin was actually Tappo’s wife’s former lover.

Wedding

After seeing this, the local people dropped upon the house and started beating up the lover. The recently wedded girl at that point approached and admitted that they had been lovers. But, her relatives had purportedly restricted their match and wedded her off to Tappo. She is the youngest of her three siblings and her parents are no more.

On knowing about this love of his wife, Tappo, in a novel approach, decided to get his newlywed wife married to the guy, whom she loved. Not only he convinced the parents of the lover, he also organized the wedding ceremony of his wife himself. This novel gesture from Tappo was appreciated and supported by the community. In a statement, Basudeb Tappo said, “The lives of three people would have been destroyed had I not done this. This was the only solution. Now all of us can be happy.”

The Sarpanch of the village also said by agreeing on the decision of Tappo, “When we came to know of Basudev’s decision, we felt that it was the most appropriate thing to do in such a situation. So the entire village came forward to support his wife’s second marriage.”

Marriage is a very serious and important commitment for a lifetime. Therefore, it is the most important thing only two consenting adults enter into marriage.
